The case studies below are real examples of how Waste Consultants can help you save on your waste disposal costs.

  • Original annual waste spend: $321,600

  • New annual waste spend: $236,400

  • Annual Savings: $85,200 (26%)

With 73 locations, it is difficult to manage waste expenses in house.  This client had been very proactive in attempting to reign in these costs themselves.  As a result, they were skeptical that we could reduce their costs.  Waste generation surveys were performed that identified a number of inefficiencies.  New services were recommended and some under-performing vendors were replaced.  Not only were their waste expenses drastically reduced, but their costs stayed relatively flat moving forward due to new contractual language recommended by Waste Consultants.

  • Original annual waste spend: $115,200

  • New annual waste spend: $93,000

  • Annual Savings: $22,200 (19%)

Most of this client’s locations are very rural, so there are limited options available in terms of who can pick up their waste and where it can be taken.  An on-site visit was performed at every single location, which allowed us to identify a number of locations that were being billed incorrectly based on improper container sizes.  The pricing at many of the locations was also way out of line with the current market prices.

  • Original annual waste spend: $74,400

  • New annual waste spend: $22,800

  • Annual Savings: $51,600 (69%)

This client has only one location, but there are multiple streams of waste being produced.  An on-site visit and waste generation survey helped us identify an opportunity to consolidate some of their containers and eliminate the cost of having redundant services in place.  Recyclables were not being properly segregated, so a new recycling program was put into place.  Waste Consultants identified a vendor that would pay the client for the recyclables.  So, the client is now diverting waste away from the landfill and they are being compensated for it.

Retirement and Assisted Living

  • Original annual waste spend: $115,200

  • New annual waste spend: $90,000

  • Annual Savings: $25,200 (22%)

Sprawling across 215 acres, this community has multiple dozens of building and multiple sites for waste disposal.  An on-site waste generation survey was performed that identified several sites that were being over-serviced.  The independent living houses have curbside pick-up.  All ancillary fees (fuel and environmental surcharges, etc.) associated with this service were removed as a result of Waste Consultants’ negotiations with the vendor.

  • New annual waste spend: $33,600

  • Annual Savings: $38,400 (53%)

This client is a large generator of food by-product waste, mostly meat scraps.  They were being over-serviced by their vendor due to unwarranted concerns that odor and spoilage would be a big issue and because the waste vendor is incentivized to pick up the waste as much as possible.  Waste Consultants performed waste generation surveys which identified enormous opportunities for increased efficiency.  A new recycling program was implemented by Waste Consultants that resulted in the client being reimbursed for this stream.
